Case Study:
New York License Plate Reader System

The state of New York embarked on a project to renew license plates for all motor
vehicles registered in the State. Corcraft faced the task of manufacturing over ten million pairs of plates during a two-year period while coordinating the effort to distribute each plate to the appropriate vehicle owner. Key to the distribution process was the matching of an address to a corresponding license plate. more info...

Digital Technology

DigiTag Administrative Software
The backbone of our digital license plate offer is contained in our high powered digital network that ties together all aspects of digital (and traditional) production systems in a license plate plant. Our custom developed software offering is user friendly, windows based, and is designed to be flexible and with open architecture to communicate with other software systems already in place. more info...

Digital Printing
Over the last several years, the John R. Wald Company has tested a variety of materials and printing methods, and have determined that the thermal transfer printing process offers unmatched performance and quality for the production of license plates.Outdoor durability, speed, and high image quality are some of the aspects that make this technology appropriate for the license plate application. Depending on specific needs of customers and volume requirements, we offer two different printing systems each with unique features:

Digital Printing for Signs & Labels too!
If it's not cost effective to convert your entire license plate operation over to “flat-plates”, then consider the Wald DigiTag Printing System to simply print short-runs of different specialty graphic design backgrounds, then laminate to aluminum, blank, emboss, numeral coat and cure in the same process that is currently used today in your license plate plant.

This is an approach that minimizes your capital investment but offers your industries the most value in the ability to produce signs, labels, and other digitally printed products. Simply incorporate a digital printer into a sign or decal industry, and also produce specialty license plate sheeting. Eliminate the high cost of having to buy specialty sheeting or the cumbersome process and set-up involved in silk screening. This not only satisfies a cost and flexibility concern for specialty license plate manufacturing, but also increases the capacity to produce labels, signs, and go after various other state contracts for digitally printed materials. more info...

License Plate Digitizer (LPD)
While most new technology can be daunting in its complexity, the LPD is simple in concept. The system consists of a conveyorized reader that captures embossed or flat printed license plate images with a digital camera. Then the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software "Digitizes" the image into a computer text file. more info...

Warehouse Control and Inventory Management (WCIM)
License Plates can easily be lost in the shuffle unless a proper warehouse control and inventory management system is put in place. Many states have a large backlog of inventory that is poorly tracked, improperly managed, and not distributed to the branch offices in a timely manner. more info...

Production Enhancement System (PES)
The License Plate Production Enhancement System is a high tech solution to the challenges of production vanity or personalized license plates. Have you ever read a license plate on the road that had an encrypted message like "IMGR8" or "CUB42L8"? more info...
